Haha, seriously though, numerous people have commented on how she is always screaming to get me to pick her up. My DS was never like this. I dont pick her up right away but I usually end up doing so after a minute or two. Tonight she screamed because I wouldnt let her hold the book I was reading. I've never seen a child this young tantrum. We are in for trouble...

My DS is always begging to be picked up too.  For the most part, I always do.  I lean towards an AP parenting style though, so I give him affection when he is asking for it.  And I figure eventually he will grow out of it.

I think it's pretty normal.

As do I think the fact that all 13 month olds are spoiled.

Mine is pretty easy going as far as toddlers go admittedly, but even she whines 30xs a day to be held. I do it. She's only little once, and out of the other things she screams about/wants/needs in the course of a day..that one is an easy request.

Same here.

I've almost always said "up" when I pick her up. She rarely screams to be picked up now. She just says "up peas!"

We have the same problem. LO started to shriek / squeal when she wanted something or needed help. We started working with her on the sign for 'please' whenever she acted this way. She also uses it for help as well. It has definitely helped and we've only been working on this for about a week.
