Parenting after a Loss

What's your New Years Resolution?

I have a few this year and I was just curious to see what everyone else's were.

1) My goal is to start living a much healthier lifestyle.  DH and I don't eat horribly but it definitely could be better.  I wanna start making more things from scratch, ditch the processed foods, and drink alot more water.  I also want to start a workout routine that I actually can stick with.  I feel so much better emotionally and physically when I work out.  I can't wait until the weather gets warmer and I can put my jogging stroller to good use and take B to the park!

2) I need to get myself organized. I just feel like things in my house and my life have been a little all over the place and chaotic lately and it's starting to drive me crazy! 

3) I want to learn how to take a step back, slow down, and just enjoy each day.  I tend to get so caught up in all thats going on and everything that I have to do tomorrow, next week, next month that I forget to enjoy the here and now!

 So those are my resolutions!  What are everyone else's?

IVF#2 and Stims started 12/2 ER 12/16 ET 12/21 transferred two beautiful blastocysts. Please stick LO's! BFP 12/26

  • I really want to get healthier. I would love to lose a good deal of weight, but I mostly just want to feel better.

    Also, DH and I could probably benefit from a tighter budget ;]

  • I'm going to try to take baby steps, so I'm going to make resolutions month to month in hopes of not dooming myself to failure for the year in January. So, January's resolution is that I won't buy any clothes, and if I keep working out little by little like I have been, maybe I can buy a smaller size in February :)

    love this! I typically hate resolutions for this very reason...I think it's unwise to set high expectations that can't be met n a timely matter, because your likely to feel defeated.. Instead, I always do wha Rusalkasings said! I make monthly goals.. Then I can feel goo about myself when I've accomplished something, even if its just a small piece of a larger goal!!

    For me, I want to work n organization and patience... I think a lot of it is my hormones, but I allow DS to frustrate me sometimes when I know I shouldn't.. So, my goal for January is 3 parts.. 1. When m feeling like I'm starting to get frustrated with DS, I want to pause for just a minute.. Step away, take a deep breath and evaluate what's going on.. Almost all the time n the past, I don't "evaluate" until I've already allowed myself to get stressed.. And then I feel guilty.. M tense and stressed and frustrated because DS is fussing, when really he's fussing because he's teething.. Can't blame him for that!! 2. I want to find time in the day or night t take 10 minutes and meditate/reflect on my day.  Sometimes I think time gets away from me.. dS is growing so fast.. I want to make sure I'm capturing it all and appreciating everything.. And, 3.  M gong to make a schedule for DH and I so that we can stay n top f the housework since we will both be returning to work n Wed for the first time since having DS.  

    Loss #1: 18w5d.. D&E 04Mar03 BFP #2: Jun2011.. missed miscarriage. D&C 08Jul2011 8w4d. BFP #3: Nov2011.. Our Rainbow Baby!!! DS Born: 15Jul2012! BFP #4: Nov2012.. 2U1 - DS2 born 12Jul2013.  BFP #5: 01Jan2014..3U3!!

  • 1) Save money and stop spending on thing we don't really need. I've been a bit of an impulse buyer the past few months and it's causing my money to go right out the window almost as soon as I get it. I've bought a bunch of clothes and CDs for DD that we could have gotten by just fine without. I need to get back into a frugal state of mind.

    2) Loose 10lbs. I still have 10lbs to go to my pp weight and I really was hoping to be there by now. I'm going to start counting calories and cut out sweets. Eating healthier things will be good for both me and DD.

    This time I'm not leaving without you.
  • My New Year's resolution is to focus on me.  Sounds selfish but I know that I need to do a lot of healing after losing Sophia and so I am making it my goal to focus on what helps me whether it is eating healthier, cutting toxic people out of my life, going to therapy, etc. so that I can be the best parent to Eva here on earth and Sophia in heaven.  Here's to hoping for a great 2013!

  • My New Year's resolutions are:

    To get our guest room cleared out for the new baby.  Against my MILs wishes I am not moving Landon to the bigger room & bed.  That is his place and his bed converts into a toddler bed.  The baby will go in the other room with a new bed I got DH to purchase.

    Not to care what MIL says...just in one ear and out the other.

    Work on getting the rest of the house child proofed.  I wish we had a smaller house sometimes.

    Eating healthy and keeping active this pregnancy.  Also watching my stress levels and working on ignoring people who don't have my best interest at heart.  I really need to focus on me (& this LO) for a change.

  • I like Rusalka's plan of monthly goals. I fail at resolutions every year so I don't come up with them at all. However, I do need to get back into a consistent physical therapy routine for my lower back. I have been forgetting to do the exercises and stretches. If I continue to forget, I will head down another painful and costly path. So for January I hope to do stretches daily and strengthening exercises...mild for now until I get stronger...every other day. In February, I will dust off the Wii and do some fitness. I don't have time or money to pay for gym membership and in March when I return to work there is a small exercise room that we have free access to. I will aim for 2x week, mostly during lunch or after school if it doesn't interfere with my breastfeeding routine.

  • I haven't made one for years (ever since I was a smoker many moons ago!)...but this year I would like to work on being less reactive to other people.  I get a little uptight (and sometimes even lose sleep) when my MIL, for example, stirs the pot, starts gossiping about something/someone, or baits us with some unnecessary drama.  I would like to work on myself having little/no reaction to these types of things and just rising above it.  I guess I'd like to work on more inner peace.

  • 2013 is our year! We will be officially out of debt except for our mortgage. This has been 2 years in the making and it hasn't been easy! Which leads me to my resolution...to change my work situation. I want to work PT or be a SAHM. And now that our debts are managed that can be a possibility.

  • To stop yelling in the house.  I am soo soo bad at just yelling across the house when I need to talk to someone instead of getting up off my lazy but to go into the room they are in.  I really really don't want LO to grow up in a yelling house (yelling out of anger or laziness).
