Dry face

My face has been excessively dry this pregnancy. Didn't happen last time. I use Cetaphil face moisturizer with SPF 15 in it. It doesn't seem like it is helping. I have a few splotches on my face that are red from being so dry. I just noticed it a couple weeks ago. What kind of moisturizer do you use? Anyone with similar experience?

Re: Dry face

  • I'm dry all over, flaking and gross. I got dove moisture cream soap and cocoa butter lotion. I've ended up using keihls healing cream for body and cold cream on my face as a moisturizer, no joke.

  • I've experienced the same, especially around my nose, chin area and neck. A dab of extra virgin olive oil in my moisturizer has worked wonders! I also add it to lotion for my body as well. No more flakes!
  • Cetaphil cream (not lotion) in the big tub is the best thing for really dry winter skin. Also a dab of Aquaphor around my nose and lips really helps with flakes.

  • I'm dry all over. I am going through so much lotion and cream. I'm so itchy and flaky.

This is me.  I'll look into the suggestions though!

  • I'm having the same problem but I'm acne prone too so I can't use anything too heavy. I switched to using Cleansing Oil instead of normal cleanser and it works great.

  • I confess I have been swiping DS''s BYE BYE DRY baby eczema lotion by baby genius. I think I may have to just buy another bottle. It is working so well Walgreens and babies r us carry it, I know

  • My whole body is dry, to the extent of getting a rash now.  For the dry spots on my face I have used coconut oil and it has helped a ton!  Try that :)

  • Thanks all! I will try some stuff you all suggested. I am acne prone too so I may avoid the oils but I know I have cold cream so I will try that for sure!

  • I definitely feel like my face has been a bit drier than usual (which unfortunately doesn't preclude *still* managing to break out) - I've been using coconut oil as a moisturizer.  I love it, and it really seems to work for me!

  • I have the same problem. I switched to Cerave PM and it's worked pretty well for me.

  • Argan oil. I can't recommend it enough. Keeps my skin nice and soft, and keeps away the breakouts. I get it from Whole Foods, but they have it at Sephora and other places.

  • Same here! I used to be oily and now I'm completely opposite. I've been using a little dab of Mary Kay extra emollient night cream and that seems to help. A friend who uses it for her 6yrold with eczema recommended it. It's nice that I can use it on my face and skin without breakouts.

Argan oil is what's in my cleansing oil too and I swear by it. It cleared up my acne and fixed my dry spots, not all oils cause break outs.

  • I started using Palmer's cocoa butter oil because my face was looking and feeling SO dry.  I also break out, but I don't plan on using the oil long term.  My next purchase will be cetaphil lotion.

I also noticed I have some crazy dandruff, even though I'm using dandruff shampoo.

It's going to be a long winter...

This is what I do as well. I use the oil cleansing method to wash my face and it keeps it hydrated. Love it.
