Re: How many children?

  • I'm also curious how the numbers will change once the FTMs have their first babies :)

  • I have a daughter from a previous relationship and this is hubbys 1st baby. We originally said 3 but I might call it quits after this one?!

    Apparently 4 is a popular number here. Dh and I are traditional Catholics, so we don't believe in BC, so we will take as many as we get haha. nbsp;I would ideally like to have 810 kids, at least a couple adopted. A lot of people think we are crazy, but I grew up around a lot of families like this and I can't wait. My mom had 4 and my MIL had 2 and they both always wanted more.nbsp;

    Husband and I are about in the same place as you. I'd like 6 and he's comfortable with 5. I'm the oldest of 5 and my aunt has 8 under 15yo. Our whole family is really close and im around those little ones all the tine... so we're open to however many kids we're supposed to have.

    ETA: sorry about any misspellings. Mobile bumping and autocorrect suck!

  • This baby will be my first, but H wants 6-7 kids.  We shall see.  My cousins are quiverfull (think Duggars but not so many kids) and he just loves going to their house and playing with their kids.  I do see the benefits of having a lot of kids versus only one or two in some ways, but financially it kind of scares me.  So for now we're working on the one and we'll see where we go from there.

    I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.

     Hmm I'm Catholic too, and while the church doesn't support artificial BC, it does support NFP which is exactly the same as what most people on here did to chart to achieve a pregnancy, you just chart to avoid pregnancy instead. I have had a thermometer on my nightstand for the duration of my marriage. The Church doesn't expect us to be completely backward about our reproductive choices.

    very familiar with NFP my parents have been teachers for 25 years, and H and I have been using it to achieve since we were married. NFP is not considered BC and the Church emphasizes an openness to life that encourages only using natural ways to space children in times of necessity. My parents used it to limit to four, and have almost always wished that they had not. I have never met anyone who regretted having 1more, but a few that regretted not, so we will leave it up to Him, He knows best. :)

  • This is our third and final. We've always said 3. DS1 is from a previous marriage, so DH and I will have 2 together. However, DH and I have been together since DS1 was 1 and he's with us the majority of the time. DH considers him his.
