Refuses sippy cup with BM

My DS will is 8 1/2 months old. He has been drinking water from a sippy cup for 2 months.  I no longer BF but he still receives BM.  He only has 4 bottles a day so I decided since he was drinking water from a cup to start giving him BM in a cup once a day, usually at lunchtime.  Well I have tried several times with several different cups and he refuses.

 Any suggestions or should I just wait a little longer?

    I think this is a very common problem.  I also think you are starting drinking milk out of the sippy a bit too early.  With my first LO, I waited until she was 1 and used the sippy for whole milk and water.  She was drinking water from the sippy way before she was 1, but never BM out of the sippy.  I also never gave whole milk from a bottle.  I slowly transitioned her out of the bottle by the time she was 13 months old with this method.  I think babies still need to suck on the bottle/nipple at 8 1/2 months old.  You can keep trying with the BM if you want, but I wouldn't want to waste that much BM.
