Back to work routine

Moms who have gone back to work.. what is your morning routine? I am a FTM and also have what I call a HMB *high maintenance baby* :) He has tons of painful gas, doesn't sleep well due to this, silent reflux, and now we suspect a milk protein intolerance/allergy but he won't take the new formula!

Anyway... I go back to work Wednesday and although I have gotten used to little sleep, how do I get both of us ready in the morning. My typical morning right now is holding him about 4/5am-7am while he gets gas out and then feed a bottle between 6-730am just depending on when his last feeding is. At this rate I will never be able to shower and get us out the door to daycare/work. Thanks for any tips and I would love to hear your routines!

Re: Back to work routine

  • I have to shower and do hair at night, then touch it up in the morning or we'd never get out the door. I am BFing so I try to fill her little belly as much as we can before I leave. Who ever changes her diaper will dress her for daycare. DH thankfully is dong drop off, so I can get to work earlier with the extra time it takes to pump. We had 2 practice days and one real day so far and it's exhausting. Everyone tells me the first month of daycare is just insane.

  • I would suggest you do a trial run. This is what i did. If you end up running late add that time to the time you had previously allotted for this.  I try to shower first so my hair has some time to air dry before I have to blow dry it. I also suggest eating b4 LO (if you can) b/c once my LO is up its all about him. Also have you tried infant gas drops?  They are a big help for us. You can even add them to a bottle. I usually don't worry about when LO has eaten b/c I can always just "top him off" if he's not ready for a full feeding.

  • I second the trial run as well as gas drops! Have you tried Dr Browns bottles? They have made a huge difference for us!
