Babies on the Brain

Warning... TMI

Yesterday I got my period and it was unlike anything I've ever experienced in my life. It started very suddenly in the middle of the day and was so heavy I had to change my tampon 3 times before going to bed. This was using regular not super. As a comparison, normally 1 would be fine for mid day through dinner for me... especially on day 1 of my period.

Along with heavy flow I felt nauseous, had soft stool, and terrible cramps. Im not too worried about cramping, it just happened to be particularly bad and in tandem with everything else I figured I'd throw it in.

I put in a super before bed and when I woke up today it had almost nothing on it, cramps are gone and so are my other "symptoms". Barely any spotting last I checked too.

So here's my question, could I still be preggers?! I'm just kidding! But, has anyone else experienced a period like this? Should I call my doctor? It just seems like a silly thing to make an appointment for since I feel fine now.

As a bonus if you've read this far, any good comfort food recipes you want to share? I'm out of dinner ideas.

Should I maybe be expecting a second one or something? I've just never had a period that lasted... What, 9 hours total?

  • I usually have a few days of light bleeding, then a day of nothing and then a small amount of spotting.  Not quite the same thing, but since going off bc it does kind of take a break and then finishes.

As for dinner we are probably going to have grilled cheese and tomato soup tonight.

  • Was the timing right for AF?

It could be you had a CP and it caused a heavier flow.  I would just make some notes to keep track of what happened.  If things continue to be hinky, I would consult your doc but for now I would just wait and see.

I'm making spinach tortellini with alfredo sauce and garlic bread for dinner.

I think timing was right... It was my first month charting and my temp dropped the day before but was back up again the next day when I started. FF predicted 1 day later than I started. I went off BCP in Sept, so I'm just starting to get an idea of my timing.

I am failing to see anything abnormal. And it's highly possible you could have more in a day or two.

I feel like we're on a long fishing expedition. A never ending one a that.

  • I've had quite a few periods that had a start/stop pattern over a few days and my periods always started as mega heavy flow with stomach issues (cramping, nausea, diarrhea, etc) so no.. I would not be concerned.

  • That is odd. I would wait and see what happens. Could be AF could be some weird spotting. If it happens again I would call your doc.

And I love that you followed that post up with a question about food! Lol. My DH's fave comfort food is my 3 cheese mac and cheese. Then I put it in a ceramic cooking dish and cover it with parm cheese and garlic bread crumbs and bake until they are toasted.
