LO has slept in his RnP since he came home. He is starting to outgrow it so I want to start putting him in his crib but as soon as I lay him flat, he wakes up squeeling. Should I transition to his PnP first then to crib or just go for it until he gets used to it?
Re: Transitioning to crib. HELP.
Can I selfishly ask how big he is? My daughter is just 11 pounds and seems to be fitting into it quite well still.
My plan is to let daycare figure out how to get her to sleep in the crib, hahaha.
Sure. He is almost 14 pounds, his feet are just hitting the top of the bottom ledge. Here is a picture for reference, he looks very confused haha
We transitioned to crib at 6 weeks because up until that point we could only get her to sleep in the bed with us. She hated the pnp. She was sleeping in the boppy pillow between the two of us. I loved having her nearby but knew the longer we kept her there the harder it would be to make the change. Before putting her in the crib at night I had started putting her in there for naps to help her get used to it. We did it over Thanksgivng weekend when DH was at home to help. The first couple of nights he slept on the floor in her room so he would be nearby. We are downstairs and she is upstairs so it was just easier that way. The first week or so we rocked her to sleep and she would sometimes wake up a couple of times and need to be comforted and put back down. Now we are at the point where we can put her in the bed when she is sleepy and she will fall asleep.
I say skip the pnp, but that is just my opinion. I have no experience with rnp. You might try getting LO used to the crib with naps first before putting him in there at night.
