Help! Fish smell

I noticed yesterday my wet bags that had diapers in the smelled strongly [they are left open]. I washed my diapers hit rinse no soap, warm wash tiny bubbles and calgon with an extra rinse. Now this morning when I got Lo up I could smell her diaper before I even took it off of her. I have bg4.0 and Hawaii bamboo... To be honest I think it's more by bg than kawaii.
Do I strip them and how, and how do I keep this from happening?

Was it only the one time they smelled? or is it a repeating issue?

I'd try warm rinse, hot wash w/ dtergent and extra rinse.

If you have HEFL machine, you may need to add water to the machine to get them clean.

Also try a bit of vinegar (1/4 cup) in the last rinse.

If it's still an issue you may need to strip

Any chance you or someone else used a nonCD safe diaper cream? They have fish oils in them that will make your diapers stink like fish. That's the only thing I know of that causes a fishy smell.

I am stumped. We dont own any non cd safe cream so its not that, and this is the first time this has happened. We have hard water which is why I use the calgon and its been fine for the last few months but this is just starting. I have an old top loader.

If it's just one time, I would just think it was a fluke.  If it continues to happen you may need to alter your washing routine.

MF does tend to hold stink more than natural fibers.  You could try washing clean diapers with fish tank ammonia neutralizer to get rid of the smell.  Or, run one wash with bleach.
