We will be transitioning my LO to a twin bed around 19 months...one month prior to the arrival of our new LO. Any suggestions on bed rails you've used and like/didn't like?
That is a tough time to transition right before the baby. At least for us, the transition was not easy and involved late nights. I have actually heard that pool noodles work well under the fitted sheet for a bumper. We converted DD's bed to a toddler bed back in June, and DD2 has been sleeping in the cosleeper. We will be transitioning DD1 to a real bed soon since DD2 is sleeping through the night and I want her in her own room.
I wouldn't use a pool noodle on a twin bed, especially if it's raised with a box spring and a frame. That would be a far fall. If you start with the mattress on the floor, that would be okay for pool noodle usage I don't have a recommendation for an actual rail, but we just took the front off my kiddo's crib after I had surgery last week because I'm not allowed to pick him up. I never bought the toddler conversion, so there is no rail. We roll up a blanket and lay it along the edge of his mattress. He's fallen out a few times, even with the blanket, but I think it's because the blanket got a little flattened. He's doing pretty well with the change though. He likes that he can get in/out by himself.
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
Look up Magic Bumpers on Amazon. We used them on our bed when DS was cosleeping so that he wouldn't fall out (I didn't want him between DH and me). I think we will use them for the toddler bed transition, too. Much larger than a pool noodle, but same idea.
