Sleep together or separate?

I am expectjng twins and am
Trying to out together my registry. I am having trouble deciding on whether to put a bassinet, cosleeper or two rock n plays for sleeping at night. Does anyone have any experience or comments on whether we should keep them together when they are newborns or is it ok to separate them? Thanks!

Re: Sleep together or separate?

  • My hospital separated them and told me too because of SIDS risk. I did the RNPs but if I did it over again I would do 2 co sleepers. The RNPs were nice but if you have long kids they outgrow them quickly and sleep abnormally like in a "v." Also transitioning them to a crib was hard at first. I finished with them around 3 months.
  • we use RnP's, I like how they fold up when not in use, and are very portable. Wrongly have a 2 bedroom house, so ill do anything to save on space!

  • My boys slept together for the first two weeks.  They unswaddled themselves so we separated them.  DS1 started rolling (granted only one or twice) but that was enough to not want to take the chance that he ended up hurting his brother.  We now use RnP's as they are just so dang convenient.  Our doctor said as long as they weren't able to hurt each other we were fine.  They are a month old and we really haven't used their cribs all that often.

  • I had never heard of or used a RNP...after reading all of the replies, I might have to try them out! I too, was curious about the twins sleeping together or seperate.

  • Our stroller had bassinets, so for the first four months, they were each in their own bassinet in our room.  After that, we got separate mini-cribs for the nursery.  My guys move around a lot, and I would not have felt comfortable with them sleeping together.

  • We put a crib in our room and our original plan was to have all the babies sleep in the crib together in our bedroom.  We quickly realized that they slept better in the rock and play so we bought 2 more and had everyone in there.  The nice thing about rock and plays is you can move them anywhere.  We actually have all the babies in them and keep them in the living room so whoever is in the bedroom can get some uninterrupted shut eye.
