So I've been battling thrush for about a month now. Our pedi prescribed nystatin, which apparently doesn't work for me. The next time we went back for an appointment I told her it still hadn't gone away and had actually gotten worse. She told me to continue to use it!
Although this is most likely unrelated, I now have mastitis for the second time in old lefty. Eff!!! I've been laying in bed all day with a headache, bodyaches and a sore left boob doing everything I can. I called my doctor and she ordered a prescription for me to pick up tonight, but I'm so achy and whiny that I really don't want to go out in the cold to pick it up! This is why you need to live near family when you have a baby. Has anyone also had the same nonreaction to nystatin? Again, poor me!

Re: Poor me
My LC rec lots of probiotics (refrigerated pill form), swallowing garlic cloves (natural fungicide), gentian violet for the babies mouth, no sugar or white carbs, two weeks worth of diflucan, letting your nipples have as much air time as possible, washing everything in hot water and towels after every use...this goes for everyone in the house, frequently change nursing pads...this is all I remember but good luck! Also check out the le leche league and kellymom.com
I found the ped and ob do not have nearly the expertise the LC have...my ped Actually changed her advice after hearing what the LC said.
