Toys in big boy room?

We've started getting M's big boy room ready for him it was a guest room/office. My question is, do you think it would be too much of a distraction if I put a bin of his toys in there? I guess I'm just worried he'll wake up during the night and want to play. On the other hand, his toys are overtaking our living room and now we'll be bring the baby stuff back out, so I'm thinking his room might be our only hope. WWYD? Thanks!

  • I think some toys in his room are fine. B has toys in his room and I plan to leave them in there when I finally move his crib in, in the near future.

  • I think toys in his room are fine. I think that's where toys belong, anyway. Play with them in the living room, put them away. I wish we had space for that now. We're looking to move, and I'm pushing for a playroom.

  • DD has toys in her room, she sleeps on a floor bed and I've never had her get out of bed to play with her toys.

  • Thanks ladies! I'm sure I'm over thinking the whole thing and probably just not ready to have him grow up.
  • My parents always had us kids keep our toys in our room.  Then again, we didn't have a lot of room in the living room to store them.  With us, we keep most of our LOs toys in our dining room since we don't use it too much anyway.  Also, our home was built almost 100 years ago and the bed rooms are very small.

  • The kids have one stuffed animal each to sleep with (a lovey) and that is it for their room, I don't want them thinking they can play in there, and it is also where the older ones go for a "time out" if they are really being over the top.  HOWEVER, we do have a playroom, if we didn't have a place to put all the toys I might have a different opinion.

ETA- when we lived in a condo we didn't have a separate play room for the toys, so I bought a coffee table that doubled as a toy chest, and had a cubby/bookshelf wall system to store all the toys.  It was easy enough to throw everything in the chest and in the cubbies and have an "adult" looking room at times.
