sock on or offf at gynecology exam?

in most gynecology exam videos and photos on the net, patient is at gyno chair with barefoot on stirrup. why they take them off?

Even though this is a troll I always have socks off. I live in Florida and I never wear sneakers, flip flops are my go to so I wouldn't have socks on to begin with.
