Honestly, I'd eat it if its an occasional thing. I mean, don't go nuts, but if you are really worried then heat it. I love cold smoked salmon. My favorite is to heat until steaming and then roll it with cream cheese and avocado.
I've eaten it cold since I've been pregnant. Now, I've only had it twice. As with anything you eat you take a risk. I say eat it!

Ditto. If the deli you buy from is typically clean, etc. then I would be fine eating it.
A lot of the foods on this list were actually OK'd by my MFM. That being said, uncooked meat is not a good idea. I know it is smoked, but it's still not cooked by heat.
Salmon however is a pregnancy super food. Maybe a nice Salmon steak will cure that craving... Eat it in moderation though!

If you are worried then get your fish on a Monday (its shipped fresh on Mondays) and go early in the morning. Odds are the fish has been on ice and let out of its package first thing in the morning. That's what the fish monger at my whole foods told me!

Lox is salt cured salmon. Most often, it's shelf stable and age isn't really a factor.
The risk with lox is that it falls into the uncooked fish category, but the high amount of salt prevents bacteria from growing. If you want it, I say go for it. I was living in Seattle for my last pregnancy and lox wasn't considered a no no in my circle. It was actually served at a baby shower brunch that I went to.

I wanna lox bagel now. I would just eat it in moderation like anything else.
I get not freaking out over every little thing we should/should not eat. I really do. That said- eating something in moderation is not going to keep you or the baby safe from Listeria. Because it only takes 1 time of eating a food contaminated with Listeria for you to get it. It's not cumulative- like for instance, the effects of alcohol or smoking on your unborn baby.
If you're worried just heat it up to kill any bacteria. You can always heat it to kill the bacteria and then rechill it to eat. Just eat is as soon as it's cold again.

Sam's Club/Walmart just issued a recall on smoked salmon sold in several states due to "listeria potential." Oy vey, hope no one gets ill! Article here.

I agree, I haven't had sushi yet but I will if I crave from a well known place.
