Trouble TTC

TTC- Any advice is very much appreciated!!

Hello TTCers! :)

My husband and I have been trying almost a year to conceive. No luck yet. I wouldnt be TOO discouraged if it wasnt for the fact that I havent had a period since September 20th, and im NOT pregnant :( I keep gaining weight, and having minor cramps, but no baby. I have a doctor's appt January 8th, to have some testing done and possibly a referral to a reproductive specialist. Anyone ever experienced this before? IDK what to expect?

Re: TTC- Any advice is very much appreciated!!

  • I'm sorry I don't have any advice as far as your symptoms with no period, the women here are helpful and beyond smart, but I think they would need more information from you as far as what kind of testing you've already had etc. But I just wanted to say good luck with your doctors appointment. I hope you get some answers and the help you need.

edit: as PP said, regarding the not getting pregnant in a year plus, that would be all of us. and yes read the noob link.

  • I'm sorry that you're going through this. I have never personally experienced a cycle like that but there are several women here who have went through long cycles and have to get a Rx in order to get a period.

It sounds like you are on the right track by seeing a doctor. I think the general rule of thumb is to see a dr after 60 days without a period.

I hope you can get some answers from the dr visit. And I'm sure some other ladies who have been through something similar will reply soon. You can always lurk and search on this board and the TTGP board to read other posts about long cycles.

    Good luck.

  • Yes, definitely see a doctor (start with your obgyn and/or ask for an RE referral).  I have personal experience with long cycles (my most recent cycle was 107 days).  It means your not ovulating, or anovulatory, and there are a number of causes, one of the most common is PCOS.  GL to you in the New Year in finding a doctor you trust and a treatment plan that moves you closer to your conception goals!
