What activities are you most excited to introduce your LO to, or what do you hope LO is interested in?
DS1 loves basketball and soccer. I hope to get him involved in sports in the next couple years. I hope both boys like sports.
I would also love to teach the boys to play an instrument. I played clarinet, alto and tenor sax in HS, tenor was my favorite.
Re: GTKY: Activities
I am really excited for DD to learn to swim, I was a swimmer for 10 years and my family spent a lot of time at the lake or pool and its almost always warm enough to swim in Texas.
Cello - I played the violin in middle school and high school but I always love the cello so I hope she wants to learn one day or if not the cello some kind of instrument because I loved being in orchestra so much ( more for the social experience than the actual playing lol)
Reading - I LOVE to read just about anything so I'm really excited to get to share with her the books I always loved and see what she thinks.
Hockey for sure (we are Canadian after all ha ha!)
I would love if he also loved to go swimming and music and maybe even dance (I hip hop dance)
I hope he likes doing one activity that DS1 also likes so that they will always have something in common when they grow up. Right now DS1 is in karate and swimming. He wants to take guitar or drum lessons when he finishes swimming red cross level 4.
I also hope he likes music since the rest of us really enjoy it.
We are excited to read to him and hopes that he will love reading as much as we do.
We also can't wait to introduce him to the Doctor Who series, starting with the second Doctor.
I hope that he will be involved i some type of Sport. I will insist that he take swimming lessons for his own safety.
Music. We are getting a Piano from MIL when we have space for it. I would also encourage him to play any instrument that interests him.
We will take him to plays and Musicals.
Swimming. I was a little fish and loved my summers at the pool so much the chlorine turned my hair green. I hope she loves the water too. Also can't wait for our first time to hit the tennis courts. I'm sure my husband can't wait to take her to the driving range. I can't wait to see her first dance recital.
I secretly hope she doesn't want to be in band, even though both DH and I were, because those early recitals and practices, yow they are torture to listen to.
A martial art
A musical instrument
DH and I run so I would like both boys to take an interest in
it as well as choose another sport they are interested in.
I want them to be active mostly- I don't have any
attachment to sports. DH and I did swimming with DS1
and he loves it. I also would love for them to play an
instrument. I played flute and oboe, DH played tuba.
We'll also be teaching our boys Mandarin. We're learning it
ourselves just because it will be very valuable to DH's job
in the navy and we think it will set our kids up for success
later on as well. DH sort of wants to steer them towards
martial arts too since he's enjoyed it.
I hope also share the love of literature like pp have said. Our family has favorite books that we read over and over again.
Hockey! When we found out it was a girl, a pink hockey stick made it it's way on to our shopping list.
Reading. I hope she develops a love for reading like I did.
DH and I never really played sports in high school. I played football for four years and DH never played, but if she chose to play a sport that interested her, I'm game.
I played clarinet in middle school. I didn't love it, but I would LOVE if she played cello or piano. I love classical music.
I made rachelmichelle1 my bitch.
We love hockey... my sister is convinced we should start her skating in a couple years so she can play and even found her skates already LOL
Both DH and I enjoy quading. I'm sure he would love to get her a mini quad the second she can walk although I would want to wait until she is older for her to ride. I also foresee a pink camo .22 or shotgun in her future since DH is a hunter and I like to trap shoot.
Of course I would love her to like the things we like but I would never force her one way or another. If she's passionate about something that's all I care about!
I'd really like it if LO is into books, music and video games as much as both DH and I are. As far as sports go, neither of us have really been into anything, I play Roller Derby, used to do Aikido and enjoy watching Ice Hockey. Id like LO to try sports, whatever he would like, perhaps introduce him to some sort of martial arts and have him swimming early on.
We like to go hiking and already have a carrier for that purpose. And maybe... i'll pop some skates on him so he can join me, but I don't want him to feel pressured into anything he doesn't want to do, but I do want him to try anything that takes his fancy until he finds his passion = )
