MOTY right here :(

I crashed. LO wouldn't stop screaming for over an hour, and I had lunch scheduled with a friend, so I gave up and took him to mil to babysit. He was screaming the entire at there and I was so upset that I didn't even pull over to check on him... I feel disgusting. She just called me and told me that he drank 2.5oz and that he passed out... I feel like a horrible mother for letting him scream like that, but I just couldn't pull it together... This is the second day that he spends screaming, and add the sleepless nights to it, I just cannot take it anymore....

  • You are not a horrible mother. You are exhausted and sleep deprived. I have done the same thing, but I have no one to take LO to. It doesn't hurt them to cry. I hope you enjoy your lunch. Take some time to relax before you go get LO. Sending you hugs!

  • I'm sure every mom deals with situations like yours, you're not alone or a bad mom, you're only human! I had a similar day, lo wouldn't stop crying, nothing I did calmed her, so I went into my room and screamed at the top of my lungs, definitely helped. Hope you had a nice lunch alone :

  • Ds1 sounds strikingly similar to your LO. He was, shall we say, high maintenance. It doesnt help to hear how other LOs are sttn or generally easy babies. Who the heck knows why some are harder than other, but its certainly not your fault.

If i pulled over to console ds1 every time he cried, id would never have gotten where i was going. I seriously was at my wits end when he was new. I started smoking and couldnt wait to go back to work!

You shouldnt feel bad. You need your time too! And if you were upset, then stopping probably would have done more hurt than help!

  • I think you did exactly what you needed to do to be a good mom. Asking for help can be hard, but we all have these moments.
  • You are not a bad mom. We all have our breaking points, even when it comes to caring for our children. You have to maintain your sanity somehow too. If he wasn't going to be soothed anyways, you might as well let him scream instead of doing a circus act trying to get him to stop with no success. I hope things get easier for you and Ethan soon, mama.

  • Oh sweetie you're not a bad mom!! We all have our days and so do the babies. My little guy had a few days like that. I fed him and turned on the vacuum and he went to sleep for about 5 hours. When he woke up, he was a different baby. Maybe you should try that or some other kind of white noise. But whatever you do, don't feel like a bad mom, you're doing great :)
