I really need help with this.

I know these have been asked separate but I haven't really found much that applies to our situation? So I am wondering if people can help.

Ever since Liam was like a month old, he slept in his swing. He has always needed to be rocked or swayed to sleep and l really wanna change that. He is also swaddled at night and naps. MH keeps saying we need to move him to his "crib" which is a PnP and I know we do.

My issue is, is that he fights sleep... bad. He will just whine or cry sometimes until he is swaddled and being rocked and he STTN so I don't want to ruin that either. I have tried not
swaddling at naps but his arms wake him up and I end up tucking them under the blanket.

I just dont know where to or how to start or what to do. If I try putting down drowsy, he will just get upset.

BLAH.. help? :/

  • I'm probably not the best person to ask, because I do the same thing. IT'S SO MUCH EASIER THAT WAY. Smile I say do whatever works best for you and Liam.

The pedi yesterday was asking me about how he's sleeping and thinks he will sleep longer stretches if I put him down drowsy. If your LO is already STTN, I personally wouldn't worry about it.

  • have you tried naps in his crib? Try having him nap in the crib maybe this will help him get used to it.... Or how is he at falling asleep in the swing and then you moving him? When we first brought LO home we did the same thing... He slept in his swing... its where he felt most comfortable.... Id let him fall asleep there and then move him to his crib. Now he has no problems sleeping in the crib/pnp or his swing

    This!

I didn't move Carter till I felt he wasn't sleeping good in the RNP anymore. If it works keep going till it doesn't.

We swaddle him, white noise, swing on and he falls asleep. I don't fix things that aren't broken either but he's getting to big for the swing. He hops on it and shakes it haha so when I get the balls to do it, I want to know how :(

    Does he take a pacifier?

yes and no. we have to put it back in a lot before he falls asleep. he's not big on it and only takes it if he's super tired or just wants something to suck on. even then, he doesn't keep it in lont

  • I'm not much help. DS sleeps great at night in his crib. He puts himself to sleep unswaddled and usually gives me a 7 hour stretch. But during the day he won't sleep in his crib more than 15 minutes. I try everyday but I always end up moving him to his swing or rock n play where he will sleep for up to 3 hours. I guess I'll just keep trying to put him in his crib and hopefully it will work one day but as long as he's napping good somewhere I can't complain.

  • We had the same problem with Owen, he would only sleep during the day in his swing, we tried using a white noise machine and now he will nap during the day in his crib.. Not for as long as he would in the swing, but it's something. We use the sleep sheep.

  • DD used to only sleep in her bouncy chair. It was bad, to the point where I thought I'd never wean her off of it. One night, DH just put her in her crib, after she had fallen asleep, and she slept longer than ever. We then started putting her down drowsy. Sometimes she cries for a few minutes, but most of the time she just watches her mobile then drifts off.
