NTR- Vasectomy ?

This might sound dumb, but what kind of dr would perform the procedure? Does DH start at his PCP or a specialist?

  • Urologist. Do your research on the doctor, though, and make sure to ask how many reversals have occured. DH's doctor hasn't had a reversal in 30 years of practice. My BFF's husband's reversed, and their third child was born nine months later.

  • He would have to see his primary if his insurance requires a referral. If not, he can just make an appointment with a urologist.

  • A Urologist.  His PCP should be able to refer him to someone.

  • One of my friends is a family practice doc and does a lot of vasectomies. You don't always need to see a specialist.

  • Based on the signs in our office, our family's FP office does them as well.

This exactly. DH's reversed, we got dd4, two years after it has been done by a family practice doctor. His reversal rate was high, we found out after. Four in the year he had it done. His urologist hasn't had any in 30 years.
  • My DH had his done by his PCP. He has not had a reversal in his 15+ years.  4 years later we are still ok. :)
