Help me with this sleep problem

My DS is 13 months old and has never been a "good" sleeper.  STTN is a random occurrence, but it doesn't happen regularly.

I thought that the whole key was getting them to fall asleep by themselves in their crib, and then that is supposed to address most sleep issues.  Ok, my DS falls asleep happily in his crib every night without any protesting.

However, he wakes up at least once a night crying, almost like he is disoriented or having a bad dream.  By time I get to him, he is pretty hysterical standing up in his crib.  So I admit, I always pick him up and cuddle him back to sleep.

Is the only answer for me to let him CIO?  I don't want to do that if I don't have to.  Thanks for your thoughts!

Re: Help me with this sleep problem

  • check out the no cry sleep solution or the sleep book from dr sears. there are ways other than cio. I refuse to use cio even though my LOs dont sttn. the methods in those books would probably help I have a hard time with them bc of twins its a little more tricky. good luck! ps nothing at all wrong with cuddling him back to sleep! I lay in bed and nurse my LOs back to sleep and cuddle til their asleep enough to put back in cribs every night. I miss sleeping well but I also remind myself that this wont last forever and I kinda enjoy that snuggle time together at night and closeness we share
