Stinky fitted help.

I am having issues with one of my fitteds being stinky. None of my other fitteds or pockets is having this issue. It doesn't smell after it has been washed/dried, but once it has been peed on it smells like old stale urine or fart (sorry, best way I can explain it). I wash with a cold rinse with 1/2 cup of vinegar, then a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with soap nuts and an additional 2nd cold rinse.

Is it just not coming clean? I LOVE this fitted, and I want to be able to use it, but the smell is quite strong, unfortunately.

yeah it sounds like a barnyard stink, which would indicate that it isn't coming clean. You could wash it and add a little bit of bleach to try to get the stink out. you could also wash it with a bit of blue dawn and just be sure to rinse a LOT until all the suds are out. I've found that my fitteds don't clean as easily as my pockets and AIOs, so I typically do a prewash with just the fitteds, then a prewash with all the other diapers in, then my regular wash, and second rinse.

I agree with PP.  Try a little bleach (color safe if it's a printed fitted).  I've also read that depending on your water type, a warm pre-rinse instead of cold will allow the urine and feces to release easier.  Good luck!

Try a different detergent...like tiny bubbles

Be careful with blue Dawn in the washing machine. I have read that it can clog hoses and void your washer's warranty.

I've heard that too, and our washer is new so that is something I would really like to avoid.

 

I will try washing my fitteds separately before I wash the others.
