I have to kiddos, four and two years old. Ever since my daughter was born 2 years ago, I've had serious issues with menstrual cycle. I had to have a D&C 6 weeks postpartum because of hemmhoraging. (sp?) Then after than, had serious issues with my cycle...tried birth control shot, then pill, then paraguard, nothing seems to work.
For the past 6 weeks I've had bleeding, and was diagnosed with mennorrhaging or something like that. The dr has recommended an endometrial ablation because I'm too young for a hysterectomy. He says it can affect my fertility??!! So scared, I'm only 28 years old. Anyone had this and still able to conceive? Or is it too dangerous?
Re: Not sure where to post this, anyone had endometrial ablation?
Well, this will affect any chance of getting pregnant again, since ablation is basically heating/burning the uterine lining. I've talked to my doctor about getting it done because I get nasty periods, and because we're done having kids. DH has a vasectomy, this would be a secondary precaution.
Here, this may help (and ask your doctor for more info): https://www.medicinenet.com/endometrial_ablation/article.htm
My friend had this done and said it was a pretty uncomfortable recovery, but ultimately did end up helping a lot with the crazy bleeding.
That said, it pretty much guarantees you won't be able to carry another pregnancy, so if you're not done having kids, I would make an appointment to discuss all treatment options (and their risks/benefits) with your doctor, and make sure he understands you'd still like to have more kids. Then I'd go see another physician for a second opinon and ask the same questions.
It's a big decision to make and you want to make sure you have all the information you need before making it.
