Changing pad on dresser

Anyone have this? Instead of a real changing table? We do, due to lack of space for a changing table. It's just on her dresser. Right now no isues, but I assume once she starts being more active it'll be less safe since it can't really be secured down with the clips.

Anyone else w this issue? What will you do/did you do to secure a changing pad to the dresser?? I guess we could cut a hole in the back of the dresser, big enough for the straps to go thru? Then the one drawer won't close all the way, but def not a big deal.

Did it not come with a back strap to screw into the dresser? Ours did, and it's pretty secure.

Same here. Though the people who delivered the furniture did ours.

Same with us. It's not going anywhere!

  • I never screwed ours in. It's on a non skid mat thing and isn't going anywhere. Dd is 2 now and we still use it. In our room for DS we use our bed... Not ideal but when you have NO room you gotta do what you gotta do!

  • I am using the dresser too. I don't plan on 'attaching' the changing pad to my dresser. I figure I'll always be there, won't leave my kid on it, and I really don't want to f up my dresser. I've never understood the strap concept unless anyone is going to be that reckless with their kiddos or unless you actually plan to leave your kid on the changing table/pad for any reason.

  • i have a glass top on the dresser, the bottom of the changing pad has a nonskid texture on it. not to worried about in the future as dd gets older and bigger. i mean i am a beleive some of the safety items are to much.
  • We have ours set up like this and did for DD1 as well. Ours has a non skid backing on it. We have never had any issues with it. As others mentioned, I have never walked off with them up there. I only lay them there to change the diaper and always have a hand on them.

It's not that people are going to leave them alone on the table. When they get older and wiggly you should secure it with something. All it takes is turning your head and lo flailing his legs and pushing off the wall. It's really not that farfetched.

Maybe I just haven't reached that point yet. I've worked with kids for many years but haven't had a problem. I guess if you have another kid in the house and you are alone I could see that. Just first time mommy so haven't been through all the scenarios.
