So, after doing some research...I've found that all RLR consists of is washing soda. I am going to buy ingredients to make my own laundry detergent and this was one of them ANYWAYS. I've been having some stink issues (barn yard stink) and I attribute it to my front loader. I'm trying some different ways to wash my diapers, and hopefully it works, however, after tomorrow, I'll be using washing soda to strip them.
Has anyone else done this??
Re: Washing soda/RLR
Interesting ... I had been wondering what was in RLR b/c I can't get it here (UK) unless I ask someone to bring it over when visiting, so I was wondering if it is available under another brand or chemical name here. Thanks for the info! Washing soda/ sodium carbonate is easy to find here.
We have very hard water here and I recently did a hot wash strip with washing soda only, no detergent, following our regular wash routine. We weren't having stink issues, just some minor repelling. I think it helped a little.
I usually use Calgon or some other generic water softener in each cycle.
When we first moved here we had some ammonia stink for the first week or so, anytime DS had a wet diaper. I changed our initial rinse to warm water with Calgon. Main wash cycle is hot (50 degrees C) with Calgon and 1/2 scoop of Tiny Bubbles, extra rinse.
