How do you FF your baby in the MOTN?

Subject: how do you ff your baby in the MOTN?

I know, dumb question right? Get a bottle, feed. But do you prep it the night before and warm when baby wakes up? Prep it then? What's fastest for you?

Now that DD sleeps long stretches, she is HUNGRY when she wakes up. I think the only reason her hangry screams haven't brought the neighbors running is because I can get a boob out to fed her pretty darn quick. BF'ing has come to an end for us at pretty much all other times of day, and while I know I could keep BF'ing for this feeding, I'm not sure I want to. That's a whole nother post though.

So tell me your MOTN bottle feeding tricks!

  • We're pretty lucky that DS will take his bottle cold, warm, room temp- whatever.  We used to prep the bottle with just water and then leave a can of powdered formula next to it on his bureau to make it right then.  However, we had to switch to a different formula due to his massive amounts of spit up and we can't shake this formula, it needs to be stirred or it's too foamy.  So we prep it and leave the bottle in the fridge.  If I think he can wait it out, I will make a fresh bottle (sometimes I wonder if the cold bottle wakes him up more) and keep the one in the fridge for morning.

  • We have a formula dispenser so it's easy. It has three sections for pre measured formula. We put two scoops of powder and a little cereal for DD's reflux in each section. Then, we have 3 bottles with 4oz of room temperature water ready to go on the night stand as well. In the MOTN, I reach over, open a bottle, dump in the pre measured formula, shake, and feed.

I have 2 dispensers ready to go all day and prefill all of the bottles with water. She never has to wait long for food.

  • When DD would wake up I would have everything we needed for a bottle back in the bedroom. Would already have the water in the bottle so when she woke up I just added the formula and bottle was ready to go.

  • We have the Tommee Tippee formula dispensers so we prep a few of those with the amount of formula DS needs. Some nights we have bottles of water ready, other nights we don't. I'm pretty good at hearing when DS is waking up so I go to the kitchen and make the bottle while he's fully waking. We just feed the bottle at room temp.
  • We have a liner and formula already in the bottle and room temperature bottled water on the dresser. We just add the water and shake, so by the time he's fully awake, the bottle is ready.
  • Set out bottles with water, formula in a formula dispenser, and a spoon ready to mix

  • I have a bottle of room temp nursery water on the counter next to can of formula. I measure, pour, shake. I also have supplies on the chair I always sit at to feed, such as a burp cloth diapers. DS doesn't eat overnight anymore but it's helpful ti have ready in the morning.

Prep bottles before bed, leave in fridge, microwave ten seconds, done.
We are on our second EFF kid and it's routine at this point.

    This, exactly.
