BF'd while driving!

This is kinda flammable, but whatever. Last night on the way home from MILs cookie baking extravaganza, both boys would not stop crying. We stopped twice in 10 mins to console ds2. He would calm down and wed start again. Minutes later, wailing.

Whenever we stopped to console ds2, ds1 would lose it. Dh and i were getting pretty worked up!

Im in the back seat trying to get ds2 to suck on my finger so we dont have to stop again, to no avail. In an act of desperation, i whip out my boob and lean over the carseat and let him comfort nurse and like magic, ds stops crying.

Dh looks back to tell me good job, and sees us bfing. He simply states "that is awesome". Several minutes later, both boys are asleep.

  • well, certainly not ideal, but less flammable than if YOU were driving, which is what I originally suspected from the post title.

This, lol and at least you didn't take him out of his car seat.

  • As long as your baby was sage in his car seat, I say do what you must. It cab be dangerous though, but sounds like you only had to do it for a few minutes.

  • Wow, how did you feed over the carseat??  That is awesome and I would've done the same.

And yeah, from your post title, I thought you BF WHILE driving... that would be flammable.

  • In general I don't think it's terribly safe because if there was a crash you could potentially smother the baby BUT we all bend the rules sometimes and I certainly think it's better than taking the baby out of the seat while the car is running.

  • Oh wow...i didnt realize how the title would be perceived. I have pumped while driving though! I used to do that on my hour long commute!

  • I cringed when I read the title thinking you were probably getting reamed in here. But that's amazing. Good job!

  • I've done this once before when DS1 was around 4 months

old. He was screaming his head off when we we're driving

through DC with no place to pull over. Instant silence. You do

what you need to as long as it's still safe.

Totally thought this was going to be worse. I would say that pumping while driving is actually more unsafe than what you did.

A lot of people do it, actually, especially those that have a long commute.  I mean, if you hook it up before you take off and use a hands-free nursing bra, there's really no issue.
