nap/sleep question

Hi everyone! I was a little more active here when I was prego, but since LO has arrived, everything has been about her!
I do need some advice though... She used to go to sleep on her own and sleep for at least 2 hours for her naps and now lately I can't rock her to sleep, nurse her to sleep, let her fall asleep on her own or anything... She is resisting it all... Then when she finally goes down usually after about an hour or crying, a few mins of sleep here and there she will sleep for only about 30 mins or so.... Any suggestions? She is 8w, 3d right now...
TIA!!!!!

Re: nap/sleep question

  • 8 weeks is a huge growth spurt. I like to call it the awakening.  They are suddenly not going to be as sleepy and may need to be up a couple or even several hours in between naps.  I always try to figure out the sleepy clues.  This kiddo rubs his eyes.  DD I had to wiat until she yawned a thrid time.  Play play play until the first set of sleepy clues start.  Then begin naptime/bedtime routine. That way they dont get overtired.  Be consistent and it will fall into place.  they are starting to get a more normal infant daily pattern set up now.  It really does make things easier.

  • Try doing the sleep routine 30 minutes earlier. She sounds overtired to me.

  • I agree with pp. 8 weeks is a rough period. And avoiding lo getting overtired is huge! Sleep begets sleep.
