ugh! I JUST read thisand my eye got sorta twitchy. I feel really bad for the girl as she did nothing wrong. I don't know which makes me feel more stabby though, the husband who couldn't keep his thoughts in check even when it was obvious she wasn't going to respond, the wife who baisiclly put the blame on the girl instead of her husband or the judges who maintaind that it was totally cool and understandable for her to be fired.
You can fire an employee who has not engaged in flirtatious conduct simply because the boss (or his wife apparently as this wasn't an issue he seemed to be worried about till she found HIS innapropriate text) views the employee as an irresistible attraction
He gave her one month's severance? What a douchebag.
Real stand up guy, huh? Well, he may lose some clients with it becoming so publicized. It sounds like their marriage had issues already. The wife just wanted to pin her insecurities on this woman.

I can't see the article, not sure if it's on their end or the link just isn't working when I C&P it...not sure I want to read it, though, it'll probably make me stabby too!
I understand what your saying fred and I do kind of agree that if it was that much of an issue they shouldn't work together. I think the problem is how it was handled. It seems like all the blame was placed on her for being to pretty. I do think if he had given her a better severance pakage as well as maybe making sure she had good recomendation's for a new job that I might feel diffrently.
Also if he had you know...not acted like a perv and stuff.
Just curious how you'd feel if he had not been a jackass about it and had given her like 6 months severance? Because I kind of see the point that they shouldn't work together if he can't keep his feelings in check, and since he's the business owner he can't exactly quit or asked to be transferred to a different department. Firing her was the only way to separate the working relationship. BUT she did nothing wrong and one month's severance is really pathetic.
And I think she probably did have a case for sexual harrassment with the "If my pants bulge, your clothes are too tight" line. Proof that we need to document this crap before it bites us in the butt.
Reading more on it, then judges didn't necessarily think it was right but it wasn't illegal. The fact he only gave her one month's salary is douchey. My DH works for the judicial system, so I know there a lot of rulings that happen to be unethical but not illegal. This guy found the loophole, but it definitely makes him and the judicial system look bad.

He never should have given a reason like that but it also could have turned around and bitten him on the ass if he was awkward and acted on it and she sued him for harassment.
I never read the article though so you can ignore my post if you wish.
I feel bad for her, it sounds like she thought their relationship was different than he saw it (she texted with him, thinking they had more of a father/daughter thing, and less of a bulge in the pants kind of thing).
If he was such a moral and religious guy, he should have figured out a way to keep his thoughts to himself instead of making his attraction her problem.
And I think his feelings for her must have gone a lot deeper. Why fire her after 10 years? Did she suddenly get hot?

His wife saw her as a threat. I don't think the article says anything, but ABC news story showed he was texting her. The wife saw this and demanded he fire her.
