Lo is.in a food rut. He only really eats lunch meat for me. I want to make him more but i can seem to make it soft. How do you cook your steak and chicken so my 1 year old with 8 teeth can eat it. Thanks
Every LO has different preferences, but try giving him a small piece, he may like it. DD has only now grown in her 8th tooth but she's eaten whatever we eat (well, almost) since like 8 mos.
The key to steak is how you cut it even more than how you cook it. Make sure not to overcook steak, too. Cut it so that you are cutting across the grain, making the fibers as short as possible for the cut. That makes it easier to chew fully.
I was told most toddlers have an issue with meat because of the texture. Most if my friends went through it as am I. I offer dipping sauces with the meats ketchup, mustard, ranch dressing. It's made a huge difference and he will actually eat meat now. Before he would spit it right out. Good luck!
My kid has been eating steak, chicken, pork, turkey, etc. since 6 months. And he didn't get any teeth until he was 10 months old. Even now at 14.5 months he only has 7 teeth and has no problem with any meats. I cook it exactly as I do for DH and myself because I only make one meal a night, so we all eat the same thing.
Re: steak
This. When DD was getting used to eating meat I would shred it more and add a touch of unsweetened natural applesauce to it.
Same. I just cut it into bite size pieces he can pick up.
