Won't take a bottle

LO never had a problem taking a bottle. We used the enfamil and similar disposable nipples because we got a ton of free samples. Well we left her with MIL yesterday and she wouldn't take it. We tried several times today and nothing. Tomorrow ill go buy some different nipples but any other advice? She never had the slightest problem before. I can't remember the last time we have her a bottle but t might have been thanksgiving. She hasn't taken a paci either since she was about 2 weeks old. I'm kinda bummed cuz I was hoping for a date night while we're staying with mil. Plus I'm having to dump what I pumped :

Re: Won't take a bottle

  • My boys started on those nipples in the NICU and were using them until 7 weeks when they would start pushing the bottle out of their mouths with their tongues. I switched them to avent, and they are fine again. The enfamil nipples are so slim and definitely do not imitate how they latch on my breast. I would definitely try a different nipple/bottle!

  • I would definately do what PPs said and try different nipples, I know it's annoying to buy bottles when you BF but downthe road I think it will help... tommy tippy is pretty close to the boob.

  • Thanks guys. Ill buy an avent and a tommy tippee. I guess I have to buy the whole bottle and not just the nipple because it seems like thy aren't interchangable. I had bought a medela nipple and ring and it seemed to fit on the Abbott bottle but when we tipped it to feed the milk all poured out the sides. Also good advice about just putting a little in the bottle to see if she'll take it. Seems obvious but I hadn't thought to do that today.
