Just wondered how common this is- My 26 month old starts to cry now when she sees something sad or thinks the person is sad. We were watching Sophia the First- and she has seen parts of it before- I know she saw this part before- but she started crying today when Sophia was signing kind of a sad song- like really crying. I was watching it with her and tried to console her- so I turned it off and in about 5 minutes or so I got her re-engaged in an activity and she was fine.
And the other day I let her watch the clip of Belle from Beauty and the beast- where Belle is signing about the town- she loves that song- I sing it to her a lot when we are playing. But when she is sitting at the fountain signing to the sheep my daughter started to cry- it wasnt even a sad part. I was stumped about it. Again- I re-directed her and she was fine a little bit later.
All I can think is that she is starting to recognize emotions or she is going to give me one roller coaster of a ride when she is a teenager!
Re: she is starting to get emotional
DD1 is starting to get emotional too. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.
Not sure if she's more sensitive than other kids or not, but at the moment I'm just consoling her and helping her talk through the situation, and trying to give her language for her feelings.
