Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How soon after trying to walk....

How soon after your LO started trying to walk on their own did they actually take their first steps? My LO has stood briefly on his own and tried to move forward on his own, but noise dived, does this mean he is close to actually steps? He walks with us hold one of his hands and cruises. I'm probably getting excited for no reason, bu tI thought I'd ask. My son is 8 months and has been crawling and pulling up since 6 months.

Re: How soon after trying to walk....

  • Depends on the kid

DD went from standing without holding on to take a few steps to full on walking in about a week. She was almost 11 months old.

DS  took a few steps at 10 months, took one bad spill (thanks to his sister) and went back to only crawling until his first birthday.

Some kids are more courageous than others.

  • Both my girls took around 6 weeks to go from a first step to steady walking across a room.

    DD1 was around 12mths, and DD2 around 9 1/2mths.
