I could use some words of encouragement so please no flames! My sil is absolutely ruining my life. I rescued a lab mix 3 years ago and he has been a wonderful dog to our family. Since then my sil and bil built a house next to us and they recently got goats as pets for their kids. My dog bandit is great around kids, loves other dogs and all people, but today he injured one of their goats and they demanded he be put down immediately, or they would shoot him. I am heartbroken that my dog did it, but he is a dog with dog instincts. I agreed to have him put down because it could be the start of unpredictable behavior and I don't need my girls around that. I was at my parents when it happened, so I didn't get to even say goodbye to my boy. I just wanted to cry on someones shoulder. My sil said some terrible things to me, not related to the goat incident. I'm missing my dog, and she still wants me to apologize to my 7 year old nephew. By the way, the damn goat is fine. I can't be around them at Christmas!

This is so upsetting to hear, I am shocked. WTF is wrong with your SIL? I am at a loss for words.

Your sister-in-law is a horrible person. I'd feed her goats antifreeze. Revenge is a biotch.

He grabbed it by the neck, so he was a bad dog, but she was rediculous when she called me. She has always liked bandit. I cannot stop crying! She said I don't understand what it's like to break the bad news to a 7 year old. We live in the middle of nowhere and goats are killed every day by coyotes. Sooner or later the kid is going to have to learn about death. There is so much more background to this story but it would take forever to write it all. My sil and bil have a history of flying off the handle and I'm sick of it.

Omg... I would have shot her before she shot my dog for biting a goat. I am so sorry this happened. Who took the dog to be put down?

My dh took him to be put down and my friend who is the vet tech said he cried so hard. I don't think I could ever forgive her!

And what was the readoning this had to be done ASAP tonight , (while I don't think it needed to be done at all, curious her reasoning for the asap euthanasia)

Oh no, my heart is breaking for you! It doesn't sound like what your dog did justified putting him down. I can't believe she would even request that. I am so sorry. Our dog ran away 3 months ago, and my heart hurts every day thinking that I have no idea where he is and never got to say goodbye. The loss of an animal is so difficult to deal with. Hugs to you, sweetie.

Also, how does she think u are supposed to explain to your kids? (I think u mentioned kids in OP) A lot easier to tell a kid a goat has a neck injury and will be fine than your kids their dog suddenly is gone. I am livid at your sil/bil.

Just wow. I feel so bad for you and your family. It almost seems like SIL was more seeking revenge, an eye for an eye, than she was worried about your dog being dangerous. How can she demand to kill a dog? Its not like he hurt a person. Not that goats dont have feelings, but COME ON!

Your SIL sucks. Sorry you are having to go through this and so close to Christmas! It's horrible. It's too bad you weren't there to see it happen because he could have been playing with the goat. That sounds bad but a lot of dogs don't understand how to play with other animals necessarily because they play that way with each other.

Hugs to you and your family... and I don't think I'd ever forgive her! My furbabies are just that and a huge part of my family. I would never ask someone else to do something like that unless they had an aggressive animal that had actually hurt someone.
