School bus

Does your state require seat belts? If yes, is your driver good about them? I hate to complain the day before winter break but I complained today because the afternoon Kindergarten/preschoold driver today and yesterday on the way to school it changes a lot barely waited for DS to get on the bus before closing the gate and taking off, I do not even know if he was sitting.

Re: School bus

  • They don't have seat belts on the bus here. Our bus driver is good about making sure all the kids are/stay seated.

  • No seat belts on school buses here. I've actually heard/read that they're safer without them.

  • No seat belts on the bus here at all.  The seat backs are high and cushioned.  I'm all for safety, but I don't think seat belts on a bus are the answer.  How can a driver make sure the kids keep them on AND drive the bus?  The school district would have to have a bus aide on each bus.  I guess in a district where there's a separate bus for preschool/K kids, it would be do-able.

Still, the driver should be waiting until the kid is sitting down to pull out, especially on a bus that's for younger kids.  I think you were right to put in a call.
