What do you think about the name Alden?

It's been in the top 1000 since 1880 (never dropped out), but has never risen above like #400, so it's been around forever but has never been common. It means "old friend" which is a nice meaning. I like the sound of it pretty well, though I am kinda worried about how similar in sound it is to Aiden. I just discovered it recently and am reflecting on whether or not to put it on the list of back-up possibilities. What are your thoughts on it?

Alden's nice in print, but I don't care for it aloud.

It's a really nice, underused and interesting name.

The only thing that would worry me is what you mentioned -- that it would be confused with Aidan or Alton.

Don't mind it. I have never heard of it before. I can see lots thinking it is Aiden first or that you just switched it a little bit in the so he wasn't Aiden. That would keep me from using it.

I like it and the meaning, but I do think you'd have confusion with Aiden.

It's funny, I think there have been a few posts on Alden in the last couple of weeks here, which is kind of neat.

Well...I LOVE it. As you can see below. It is my father's middle name and I have always known it would be the middle name for my son. I love its meaning and how unique it is. I also really love how strong it is and it paired really well with my son's first name. We always get compliments on his name.
