Mmr, hep a, and chicken pox. My ds had them Monday and has been a different baby altogether. Grumpy all day. Wont self sooth and works himself up so bad. Is this normal. He has a fever slightly and wont really eat anything
Sounds like a shot reaction. The one year shots are the worst for causing reactions. You could try giving tylenol to relieve pain and keep the fever down. My pedi suggested giving tylenol after the MMR. Keep an eye on the fever, but otherwise I would not worry too much if he got his shot recently. He should bounce back.
On a side note - if your LO gets a measles like rash 10 days after the MMR that is a possible side effect of the MMR also. It only happens in a small percentage of cases, but it happened to my DD and it scared me horribly at the time.
I forgot to add --- If you are worried though I would give your pedi a call by tomorrow
to calm your fears (since tomorrow is Friday and we are going into a holiday week).
From what I've heard from other parents, I'm pretty sure this is a normal reaction...
...which is why we only get one shot per visit... and are delaying some of them until he's older... but it's a personal preference...
Here is advice from babycenter:
"To treat side effects her doctor will probably recommend infants' acetaminophen or ibuprofen for relief. It's very unlikely that your baby will experience a more severe reaction, but contact your practitioner immediately if she runs a high fever (over 104.8), has difficulty breathing, cries for more than three hours, has seizures or convulsions, is excessively listless, or shows signs of an allergic reaction, such as a rash or a swelling of her mouth, face, or throat."

We did a different shot routine up until now but wanted to get these out of the way. I thought it would be easier on him shot wise to get it all over with but i guess i was wrong. I hope it doesn't last long.]

I think our pedi said it shouldn't last much longer than maybe a week... we haven't gotten to mmr yet, and aren't doing hep a, hep b or chicken pox until probably school age...
although we may not do chicken pox at all seeing as it doesn't protect against shingles and you still can get the chicken pox, albeit a milder version... we are still discussing with our pedi
My DD got chicken pox, MMR and the flu booster. No reaction. Our pedi said that these vaccines usually don't give reaction. if they do it is usually 7 to 10 days after.

Good luck and I hope your LO feels better soon!
