Wrapped or unwrapped?

Are you wrapping LO's gifts for Christmas? Or are you keeping them unwrapped?

I gave Gator Christmas jammies and she could have cared less to unwrap them. So I have a feeling she could give a rats arse about opening gifts on Christmas. I just wrapped half of our gifts to others and sat there stumped at what to do with Gator's gifts. I ended up cutting the top off a box, wrapping the sides, and throwing her unboxed Cabbage Patch in there with some tissue paper. Her DVD's, I put in a gift bag.....I took all of her Little People Talking Zoo animals out of the boxes and just put them in her stocking.....and her two big gifts, I think I am going to keep them both unboxed and slap a bow on them.

What is everyone else doing?

Re: Wrapped or unwrapped?

  • I may wrap a small gift I got her, but her major present is in two giant boxes. It will not be wrapped! I bought her an outdoors climber and sandbox combo thing.

  • I wrapped all their presents. Except the ones too big, like th 5ft giraffe that their aunt got them... Wink
  • I hate wrapping paper.  It's so ridiculously wasteful and I suck at wrapping gifts anyway.  I love the fact that DH's family re-uses cloth bags that his grandmother or some great aunt or someone made.  I would use those for Lily, too, or just stick things in a box with a bow on them or something.

I wrap everything. To me, it's not Christmas if the presents aren't wrapped.

Same!  We wrap every Christmas gift, no matter who they are for.

This. The fun of Christmas is watching their face light up. When everything is wrapped they get excited over and over again.

    Ditto all of this

Ditto all of this.  We got A a kitchen which is too big to wrap so we are going to drape it with some white fabric or a sheet and bow.  It's fun!

  • Her gift from Santa will be unwrapped. The stocking stuffers in future years will be wrapped in a different simple paper and the rest of the stuff is from us/relatives/friends etc. and that's all wrapped.

  • Most things will be wrapped. We already gave E her kitchen and chair so those won't be wrapped. We are doing Christmas at our house on Christmas Eve morning. Her grandparents have everything wrapped.

  • I threw everything in gift bags with a bit of tissue paper on top. He got one dump truck so I took it out of the box and put it in the bag so it is ready to go. We got him a big ride on toy so we will take that out of the box and just put a big bow on it. The gift bags worked pretty well for his birthday so I decided to do that for Christmas too.

We were just talking about doing the same thing this year for L. When we were kids, my parents always wrapped everything (except big items), so I just assumed that was what you're "supposed" to do. MH mentioned that Santa never wrapped presents for him, only the gifts from his parents were wrapped. I think I like that idea better :-)

The stuff in her stocking will not be wrapped.

  • I think it's because Chanukah lasts eight nights, but LBB totally gets unwrapping presents. He gets so excited when you give him a wrapped gift and then he looks for an edge to tear since I usually start him off. As soon as enough is open to get inside, he reaches his hand inside and pulls it out while saying "oooooooooo" because that's what DH and I say when he opens his presents. He then hugs whatever it is to his chest. It's the most adorable thing ever and I think all of y'all should wrap your gifts for a chance of the cuteness.

  • My parents always had ours wrapped. I guess my kid is the odd man out in not even caring to unwrap gifts. She didn't even touch her birthday presents....which led to me waiting for a day or two of them sitting there before I finally started unwrapping. She just looked at what I was doing and wandered off to eat some Cheerios. Maybe she will be more into it next Christmas and I can wrap them and know she will actually tear them open, instead of her looking at at me like I'm an idiot while I say "look! What is it? Tear over here!" for 15min and then finally give up. Lol

  • I will wrap most of DD's gifts, however I will probably put some in gift bags with tissue paper because she loves taking things out of bags.

Gift bags totally count as wrapping! I also get Santa bags for some of the less exciting stuff and mix in cool wrapped stuff and toss it all in the bag together.

  • All her stocking gifts are wrapped. Her play kitchen, which is her only "big" present from us, will have a bow on it.

ETA: DD does really enjoy ripping all the paper apart!

Awww, thats so cute that LBB likes to unwrap his gifts!  I hope T gets the hang of it too.

Santa doesn't wrap presents, but the presents from us are all wrapped. DD is like LBB, she loves unwrapping. At her birthday party she could have cared less, but she's unwrapped 5 gifts already. She is getting quicker about it, I might add. And btw, she wasn't actually supposed to unwrap them, she's just sneaky.

  • I am planning on wrapping them, he is either really interested in unwrapping or completely not interested, he is pretty hot or cold about it. But I figure it'll be fun to watch him open his presents and be all excited and laughing. I realize this probably won't happen, but hey a girl can try!
