Testing house for radon

We did a home test kit for radon in our basement and are waiting on the results.  The basement is under the middle part of our house while the left and right sides of the house are built on slabs.  I'm thinking I should test the 1st floor as well but not sure if I should just do one test or if I need to do a test on both sides of the house.  Anyone have advice/experience with a house that has a basement and a slab?

Re: Testing house for radon

  • If your basement tests normal then you don't need to do the 1st floor.  If it's borderline you can test again or just mitigate anyway.  Radon leaches from the soil so it will be most concentrated in the basement.

  • We had our house professionally tested when we bought it and they put the test in the basement.  Our house tested positive and the sellers had to put in a Radon migitation system.
