So depressed! Follistim, Cancelled cycle, Expenses

Hi ladies,

I rarely post here but your stories help me get through on rough days. Until i figure out how to do a signature i'll just give as brief of a description as possible. I have been actively ttc for over 10 years. If you asked me when i was a child what i wanted to be when i grew up, i'd would have told you a mom. Thats never changed.

Roughly 2001 I went to a RE in a different state, had an HSG and he told me i had blocked tubes and only one working ovary. So the only option he gave me was IVF which was unaffordable and still is. He was dead wrong because i RE-started this journey again this past March HSG was clear, ovaries fine, i just dont ovulate and also had a prolactin problem which gave me off and on periods. I also have PCOS. I did 3 cycles of clomid, and was told i am clomid resistant. Then found out I had a uterine polyp.... holy hell where did that come from? Had that removed, along with all the tests and probing, i was all set and ready for Follistim. Last month was my first round of Follistim. I was started out on 75 IU's for a couple days, they up'd my dose to 100 for a few more and i only produced 1 follicle. AF came and onto round 2.

This month was completely different than last month. twice as expensive too. I had horrible pains the first day of spotting! Actually had to call off work and i never do that! Then on cycle day 2 i went in for the baseline and bloodwork. Last month i started on day five for the baseline and thats when i started injections but this month i had my BL on cycle day 2 because of the pain i was having. They found no cysts and gave me the green light. I started at 75 iu's on cycle day 3. I slowly responded and was up'd to 100 for what feels like forever! This past Monday i had alot of promising follicles at 9mm, lining looked good and E2 was at 285. Three days later, Today, i go in for another ultrasound and she said my lining was perfect, that i had atleast 4 follies at 13 and 14 which she said id probably trigger tomorrow, and i had a ton that were at 10's, 11's, omg there were so many, but she said that they wouldnt be able to catch up to the bigger one's so she said just wait for my bloodwork. WELL......my estrogen level is 1,327! Holy crap what an incline in levels and a DECLINE in my mood. I have officially been cancelled. I am so upset at the money i invested in this month. I am so nervous of my nurses mention of liver failure, kidney failure, fluid on the lungs, and of course....... no baby. I thought for sure this would be my month. I just had that feeling. I am fighting to not cry. My arms look horrible from all the bloodwork. My bank account has lost so much weight and my emotions are sooooooo crazy!

Does anyone have any stories of success after going through all this hell?

Anybody know of any pharmacies that have better prices than others?

Its so hard to remain hopeful. Please share your happy endings.

I'm so sorry No happy endings to share here... I'm doing my first cycle of injectable meds and what you just described is exactly what I'm worried about happening. I'm really sorry that this happened this cycle

Its been such a long month, and some days are so hard to stay positive. Hopefully we can have some good new for both of us.

Sorry you had to be canceled.  I've never done injects, so I cant speak to that.  As for your pharmacy question, I do have some insurance coverage for meds and go through Freedom Fertility...I think they do some sort of discount for 100% OOP (maybe someone can speak to that a little better).

We have success stories here about completing cycles but not about resulting in pregnancy I'm sorry...most of us are trying for #1 and haven't gotten quite there yet. As for me, I've been through a nearly cancelled cycle for one IUI and one actually cancelled for my first IVF and its very upsetting so I can sympathize, I'm sorry     it sucks big time. Hopefully you have better luck next time around! Welcome to the boards!

My last cycle my estrogen level was over 1,000 and I only had 3 mature follicles. Your level isn't that high and seems consistent with 4 mature. What is the level that they cancel the cycle?

Good Morning I dont know at what level they cancel. I think that my RE was concerned because my level on Monday was 285, and yesterday it was 1,347. I had 4 that were close to mature, but there were so many others at 10,11,12 and then on the left there were at least 5 at 10mm. Im just so confused because last month i only had 2 and only one matured enough to trigger. I researched Overstimulation and it makes me worry that if i ovulate bloating and fluid retention could send me to the hospital. It definately helps to hear you went over 1,000 and are ok.
