October 2012 Moms

This has been one of those days.

I am not planning on returning to my work b/c I am able to begin student teaching this semester. I have been trying to wrap up all bills related to labor with my flexible spending account before it is no longer available to me. My insurance of course has screwed up this time. First they cancelled nora on accident and then took forever to re-run everything then for some reason they didn't cover my ansthesiologist bill until I called and are now re running that. So today I call pediatrician to pay the bill and it went to voicemail. At that time DD#1 barely hit her head on the table and very dramaticaly started crying. She said it was her hear. I jokingly said to her well I guess we should just cut your ear off. Then looked down to realize that was now on my pedi's voicemail. I have been trying to call back and their phones are now messed up.

Then I called another bill to pay at another office. They call me back to say their books are closed so they will just run this through at the first of the year. My FSA card will most likely be cancelled by then GRRRRRRRR

Re: This has been one of those days.

  • I'm not sure if this helps or not but most FSA plans will allow you to keep using the money if it's there through March...so maybe thats the case for you? Sorry the rest of your day sucks though...I hate days spent on the phone dealing with insurance crap.

  • Loading the player...
  • Ours does not. The day you quit you lose it.

It sucks but also you could take out 2500 on it get surgery done use it to pay bill and then quit even though you haven't paid the 2500 into it yet and they will not make you refund it.

So it is give and take

I know this doesn't help, but this made me laugh... Sorry you're dealing with insurance woes. As much as they help, they also can be sucky to deal with. I know they cancelled K on us too, which we didn't find out til her 2 month appointment. Come to find out that although we did 'add her', it was a computer glitch and it never took, so we'll have to reclaim her for the past two months. Annoying.

  • Okay seriously, this is weird.  My insurance company first claimed that DS2's DOB was invalid, so they couldnt add him, after sending me new insurance cards.  I finally go that cleared up, and had to call all the necessary parties to make sure insurance was added to our services.  THEN, the insurance claimed DS's PCP was not in-network and that we'd have to choose a new PCP.  And this was after we'd been to see her twice.  As it turns out, she is in-network, DS1 has been going to her since birth.

I tell ya, theyll do anything not to have to pay!

  • Well things have turned around now

Fianlly got ahold of pedi office and got that bill paid and then I checked my profile on Cigna's website to see if my new EOB had gone through on the ansthesiologist bill. It did It went from 1375.00 to only 250.00 I called the ansthesiologist and told them I would make a payment of 250.00 and then when the new bill came to them I would be all clear. They were cool with that. I now have under 70.00 left in my FSA account and will be heading to the store get some bandaids and other random stuff that is covered under my FSA plan.

Now I can call my boss tomorrow and resign. I am terrified to make this call.
