Vtech vs Leap Pad Tablet?

For the moms who bought their child the VTech Innotab, how long have you had it and whats been your overall experience with it? My son is 2 years, 3 months and its shocking how well he can navigate through my smartphone and laptop..he takes pictures, he pulls up Hulu and Netflix and can navigate through and find TV shows to watch, plays games, so I guess he's ready LOL I've read mixed reviews on both that and the Leap Pad, either battery issues, downloading problems or they stop working altogether. The age recommendation online for both says 3 or 4+ so I'm wondering if he's too young to be interested in now or if most of the games/apps will be too advanced..There's an Innotab Baby version that's says it's great for children as young as 1 year old...Any experience with one or all of these??

THANKS!

Re: Vtech vs Leap Pad Tablet?

  • I haven't used either of the Vtechs, but DS got the LeapPad last Christmas. It def. works it's way through batteries... but anything like that does. We haven't had any other issues w/ it. AND they have both a wall adapter AND a car charger for them... so you could get those and not have to buy tons of batteries. We have a rechargeable set of batteries (we're on our 2nd set this year - replaced the first set in September) and he's getting both wall and car adapters for Christmas. One of our girls (2 yrs 4mths) can do some of the things on the leappad... most of it is above her right now, but he doesn't have any of the videos or e-books on his. I think if we had more of those DD would be thrilled.

  • My parents got my son the Vtech one this year, so not sure yet. I've also heard about them going through batteries. We got a charger and rechargeable batteries and a wall adapter. My son loves my phone and iPad, so I'm sure he will love this!! We won't have to take this one away so often.
PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps...

  • My son got the Innotab last year for Christmas and he is still in love with it! We got him the Thomas game this year for Christmas to go with it and thinking about getting my 2 yr old one also since he loves it and they fight over it often lol
