My 5 1/2 month DS has stopped making any effort to rolling since 3months old he used to roll but all of a sudden just stopped . He's fine on his back or belly for a bit but then gets very fussy . Should I be concerned or is this normal ? He can sit on his own .
Re: Rolling?
hi there, my dd rolled i think like 4 times at around 4.5 months and then stopped. i was concerned when at around 7 months (she's 8 months now) she wasn't rolling. my pedi was mildly concerned and so sent us to a physical therapist who wasn't at all concerned. she said that rolling was more of an 8 month skill and that babies are rolling later nowadays anyway since they're not sleeping on their tummies. hope this helps.
btw i've heard of others not being a fan of rolling either and ending up just fine!
Mine stopped rolling for a while too. Then at 7 months started rolling again so that he could put himself into a sitting position or flip over to his stomach to sleep. LO also started sitting on his own at 5.5 months.
So I don't know if it's normal, but it's what mine did.
I'm surprised by the responses here. When my LO suddenly stopped rolling at 4 months, his OT was concerned enough that she recommended PT. We didn't get PT in place until he was nearly 6 months old. He was just starting to roll again. While I think he would have been fine if we had waited, it was the professionals who felt that he needed additional support. I really love having them at the house, they've given me lots of good general suggestions for him.
My LO was also sitting on his own before he was rolling consistently. Then he went from never rolling to rolling and trying to crawl in like 3 days.
