So, we have gotten hit by the blizzard here and are snowed in. Just curious what those of you effected are planning on doing? We are staying inside all day, I may clear the table off and make salt dough creations for christmas presents. Tomorrow I am going to take ds out to play since this is his first big snow storm.
Re: Snowed in plans
Have you ever looked at the Productive Parenting website? They have lots of fun and easy DIY games and activities for our LOs, and can sort them by age.
I have a bunch of the craft puff balls (the mini cotton balls). I cut a few holes in the top of an old sour cream container, and he puts the puff balls in them. He lvoes it! You could do the same thing with a pringles or puffs canister and straws.
I would also bake a few things to make the house nice and warm, and make it smell yummy!
Absolutely baking! I love baking to make my house warm and delicious-smelling on snow days!
We made a pom pom thing from a sour cream container, too. T loves it.
My friend (a kindergarten teacher) made sensory bags for the kids one night when we were over for dinner She used pretty heavy duty ziplock bags and filled them with shaving cream, glitter, a few drops of food coloring, pom poms, little plastic snakes, and some other stuff of various textures, and then sealed them and duct taped the seals shut and just let the kids feel around and find stuff in there, and they were pretty fascinated by those too.
Did you not get hit by the Sandy snow storm? I'm jealous...
OP, we are in IA too :-) I finished Xmas cards during Nap #1, and I am also doing salt dough ornaments at some point today. Right now we are watching Jeopardy and she is walking around and playing with toys. :-)
Ah, you're North... near the eastern panhandle?
I'm in the southern part of the state.
