October 2012 Moms

haven't lost any weight. :-(

Anyone else in the same boat? I didnt lose anything during the month i BF'd even though i cut back on how much i was eating. Then after i stopped, i cut back further (baked chicken and salad mostly), but still not a lb lost. For those 2nd timers, did you find it easier to lose the lbs 6 months pp? I've been told it is easier then bc the pregnancy hormones start going away more at that time but wanted to check everyone's experience. Thanks!

  • I can't stop eating! I'm hungry all the time because of BF. Unfortunately I haven't been making the best choices in food.

  • LO was ebf up until 2 weeks ago, still nursing at night but have noticed my appetite has dropped since starting the formula. I ate anything I could before! But couldn't eat cheese, or have any kind of caffeine because baby would be miserable. I didn't gain any weight while pregnant (i'm a big girl) and still havent lost anything more than 5lbs. The shape of me has changed but the weight is still there. Its totally hard to stay motivated when you're at a standstill..keep on trucking mama, your body just seems to be giving you a run for your money kinda deal :)

  • I hadn't lost any weight since 1 week pp until this past week

when I counted WW points, then I lost 6 lbs. I EBF and was

pigging out like I did pregnant (gained 50 lbs), so I'm making

much healthier choices. I'm also working out hard at least

    3 times a week. With DS1, I started running a lot, at least a

few miles at a time a few times a week and I finally started

losing. I really recommend increasing the exercise and

paying close attention to what you're eating and you will

definitely see a difference. I was miserable still carting the

weight around so now I'm really committing myself to get

it off. Some people just have to work harder for it to come

    off :(

  • I EBF and have lost nothing since the initial drop at 1 week PP. I'm starting WW December 26th and I REALLY hope counting points works for me. WW worked really great for me when I did it to lose weight for my wedding (lost 20 lbs in a few months).

  • I'm at a stand-still too.  I lost 20 pounds right away (gained 42 total).  Then I lost another 5 after I stopped BFing.  But the past month, I can't seem to lose anything.  I started lifting weights...but it's not enough.  My little guy has been super needy going through his 3 month growth spurt too.  I will just have to start going to our treadmill when my husband gets home from work every day.  I know it's the only way I'm going to lose anymore weight.  Oh and I only eat one meal a day and still can't lose anything which is even more frustrating!!  January 1st will be my fresh start!

  • I haven't lost anything since the initial week pp loss. I take it as a win that I haven't gained with it being the holidays and all.
  • I have been working out like crazy! I'm ravenous though because I am EBF. I eat healthy for the most part, although with the holidays I haven't been as good as I normally am. I had a meltdown the other day because the scale is literally standing still no matter what I do. I talked to several girls who have been in the same spot. They told me to be easy on myself. I'm only 3 months pp and it took me 9 months to put the weight on. I need to keep getting enough calories to EBF. I am doing right now why I think is best for my LO and should be proud of that. It was very encouraging and I have a new outlook today.

It sounds like eating only 1 meal a day might be the problem. Eating smaller, more frequent meals will boost your metabolism, while eating large and infrequent meals slows it down. Try adding a meal or two and see if that helps!
