wth CAN i eat?

Im nearly vegan to begin with. I dont eat meat or obvious dairy. I do have hidden dairy, like in breads, etc. Dairy upsets my stomach. And i also eat eggs.

Now pedi suspects ds has a milk soy protein intolerance and has had me eliminate all dairy and soy from my diet...which has left me with preeeeeetty much nothing besides fruits, veggies, and pasta.

Needless to say, im starving. Also, im a distance runner. How the heck will this work? Hes getting blood tests done tomorrow to rule out other variables...poor guy.

On the bright side, i guess its a good diet plan :

  • DH is vegan. I used to be. I also recommend meeting with a nutritionist for recommendations. It's what we did in the beginning. She was able to suggest a number of ideas for us like adding hemp hearts and chia seeds to meals/salads, different nut and beans, fish if you're willing, etc. I also have a few awesome recipes for things like vegan chili, etc. if you'd like. The book Forks Over Knives has some amazing recipes too. Oh and we get this fake chicken that's made out of a high protein mushroom called quorn. It's really good and we have it for things like taco night. Let me know if I can help more! We don't eat a lot of soy.

  • Thank you for the replies!  I will schedule an appt with my nutritionist.  I meet with her from time to time as my life changes (marathon training, pregnancy, etc).  So I guess that couldnt hurt!

    Its good to know that there are good options out there.  I've been sorta spoiled with my diet plan, as there is an excellent vegan market 2 miles from my home and work, and I eat 99% of my meals from there!  This is going to be a challenge, but not impossible.  And seriously, if this doesnt make me skinny, nothing will :/
