TTC after 35

HSG!

Hi ladies,

I just joined today so I'm excited to finally discuss "ttc after 35" with women who are in the same situation. I started my fertility testing last week. I had my ultrasound which was easy. Then, I had my Sono on Monday which was not so good for me. I actually passed out from the severe cramps I got when the balloon was inflated and saline injected. Now, tomorrow I have the HSG test and I am beyond nervous. I have read so many reviews on how painful it is. Luckily my doctor prescribed some Valium and pain meds for me!

Re: HSG!

  • Good Luck, lots of ladies here breezed through the procedure, it was not so nice for me, but its over quick. I was very grateful DH came with me cause i couldn't drive and was completely wiped the rest of the day. Don't worry to much, it may be uncomfortable but its over really quick!!

  • I was so nervous before mine, you read a lot of stories about how bad it is. I will say that for me it was an extremely weird and uncomfortable feeling, but luckily it was very fast. As soon as they took everything out I felt fine, just some minor cramping and spotting. I hope yours goes well, I think the anticipation of it is worse than anything, good luck!

  • I just had mine done this month & it was fine.  Very little pain - just pressure.  Once the procedure was over I was crampy the rest of the day like AF was coming. I drove myself to & from the hospital & did laundry when I got home.  I did spot for about 5 days, which is a lot compared to others.  To me it was not bad at all, I had a very good experience.  Don't worry yourself over it.  Just make sure to take Ibuprofen before the proceedure & take more after the proceedure.  GL

  • Thank you ladies! To my greatest relief, the procedure went really good yesterday and it was not as painful as I expected. Yes, I think the anticipation was worst! I started to shed some tears laying on the table but the Doctor was great! I did feel a little pressure and I had to turn onto my right side. That's when the cramps started getting a little more intense but it was over quick. I think the Valium and Tramadol (pain med) helped too. Also my hubby was allowed in the room with me so he held my hand thru it which was also a relief. Now that all the testing is over and everything is ok, hopefully we can get preggers soon!! Good luck to all who are TTC as well!Smile
  • I wish I had valium when I had mine.

  • So glad to hear you had a good experience.  I had two nurses & the dr in the room when I had mine done & the one nurse automatically grabbed my hand & held it.  It was such a sweet gesture.

  • Thank you Qzees. Yes, such a small gesture helps so much. That was nice of her to do that. It makes a huge difference when a nurse and/or doctor "cares".
