Finn has taken over as Nameberry?s top boy name for 2012, claiming the Number 1 spot held last year by Asher.  Former most popular boys? name Henry drops to Number 3.

Interesting.  Only one of our top 3 boy names (Benjamin) is on the list, which is good.

I'm hoping they just search it and decide it's not for them. But yeah, it's excessively high compared to where it ranks on the SSA.

This is one of the most obscure baby name lists I've ever seen. I wouldn't put too much weight into it. Just b/c a name has been searched a lot, on one particular website nonetheless, doesn't necessarily mean it's rising in popularity... or vice versa. Finn topping the list is definitely due to Tori Spelling. I also find it interesting that Reed cracked the top 100, but not Reid when the majority prefer the latter spelling. Whatev.

This list makes me sad. All of our favorite names (including our boys' names - Asher at #2!!??) are high on the list.

I know it doesn't mean anything in the real world, but I wouldn't be surprised if their most searched names have big jumps on the SSA list when it comes out.

I can't believe my son's name, Rhys, is on the list.  When we picked out that name in 2010, I think it was close to 1000, barely on any list.  But this list doesn't seem quite right to me.  I'm skeptical about where they get their data. I've heard of most of the top 10 names, but don't know a soul with any of those names.  I work around a lot of babies too, so I hear lots of new names.

I feel your pain. Rhys was a contender for DS2, but we went with Reid since our LN starts with "S" and Reese is a popular girl name here. I only knew one Rhys IRL at the time. Since then (mind you, Reid is only 14 m.o.), I hear it EVERYWHERE. It seems to be shooting up the popularity charts at lightening speed.

One of the only boy name DH and I both like is Oliver and although its high on lists I don't know any irl so I don't think it puts me off using it
