DSNG users- when did you stop?

I have been using the dsng since the boys were born and love it for convenience. They're not sitting up yet so can't go in shopping carts etc. but they are starting to outgrow it in length but also they just "seem" too big for it now. They sweat in their seats etc. So I was wondering at what age you stopped using it and how it went? The thought of getting 2 out of the car seats in the car and into a stroller and back in seems so daunting to me and im dreading it. Would love to hear your experiences. TIA.

Re: DSNG users- when did you stop?

  • I think I stopped once they were sitting up. They seem much happier now in the tandem. I found that it isn't much different to get the dsng out and then clip in both car seats then it is to get the stroller out and grab each kid.

  • We switched this month. They were so dang heavy in their car seats and just looked squished in the DSNG. We're using the BJCM GT now.

  • We used it until 8-9 months, but not consistently.  If we were going to be out and about for awhile we'd put them in the double stroller.  If it was a quick trip in and out of the store, then we'd put them in the DSNG.
  • I was feeling inspired after seeing some replies so decided there's no time better than the present so we took a trip to the grocery store and I used my jogging stroller. I have to say it wasn't as bad as I thought and they seemed to like looking out. It was weird though I felt like they were so "exposed" lol.

It did lead me to thinking though, how the heck would one handle that if pregnant?? Not that I'm planning that anytime soon but I had to use my abdomen to hoist the stroller into the trunk and it made me wonder. And my jogging stroller is 10x lighter than my Quattro duo. Things to think about!

Thanks for the encouragement to give it a try.

  • We had the Graco 35 infant seats and used them until they were 15m (could've lasted longer).  It was wonderful to use the DSNG for that long.  It SUCKS to take them in and out of convertible seats IMO.  Personally I'd sell the seats you have and buy bigger infant seats if at all possible, if you were able to use them as long as we were, you'd still have 10m use in them.

  • We had to stop at 6 months because whoever was in back his feet got squished.  The regular stroller is no big deal now.  The first few times it was hard, but honestly they are too heavy for me to be lifting them in the car seats anymore anyway.  My car seats stay in the car now unless someone is sleeping when we get home.

  • I think we lasted until 7 or 8 months until it was too hard to maneuver bc of the weight...part of my resistance was if one was asleep, using the dsng was so much easier bc they didn't have to be messed with...
  • I'm with you totally! Mine are so long their feet are smushed and they get hot in those seats... I can't imagine getting them out in the cold putting them in a stroller than back to car seats backwards! But I can't do the snap and go at 5 months they are too big! I'm going with BJCS GT. but ask me how I'm doing it on a cold day out????? Ugh!
  • I'm thinking we might need to stop soon.  Whoever is put in first has to have his feet moved in order to snap in his brother.  And then the one smashed pushes on the carseat in front of him and it sounds like it might come off.  They love our double stroller, so I will probably start keeping that in the car in addition to the DSNG, just in case they fall asleep in their seats.  We aren't planning on buying convertible seats until they out grow their carriers.  So we have about 12 lbs and several inches to go.
