Question about insurance

Any one know what will happen??

I have my own insurance and my husband has his. DD was put on husbands insurance the day she was boen (my mom does HR for his company). Dependents are not allowed on my insurance. We both have Blue Cross. Now I know under my insurance, the delivery will be payed. But what about the NICU stay? His or mine? Does the NICU stay count as part of the delivery? The hospital has both insurances on file, I made sure of that.

Why I ask is because I got an EOB from my insurance for my DDs NICU stay. Saying they paid it. Why would they pay it? She is not covered under my insurance. Unless it was a mistake? I called Blue Cross and customer service has no idea what is right. They said they will pay things because I have 30 days to add DD to my plan. Well, the EOB says the NICU stay was paid 45 days after birth. So that dosent make sense. She also said if it was a mistake and it get audited then they will ask for the money back. WTF?! They should know if it was a mistake.

My deductibles and max pay is higher on my insurance than my husbands. Thats why I am questioning it.

Re: Question about insurance

  • I still do not know what is going on. DD NICU stay was 11/3-11/15. The EOB date was 12/17. So it was paid after the 30 days. My insurance should have seen that DD was never added. Unless they cover the service as an umbrella from the delivery? I tried to talk to the hospital but they had no idea either.
